Natadera Temple (Komatsu city, Ishikawa Prefecture)
Rediscover project will be exhibiting at the art event “NAKED's Night Walk™ Ishikawa Natadera Temple” at Natadera Temple in Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture from October 25 to November 24, 2024 on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
Surrounded by magnificent nature, Natadera Temple has a 1,300-year history as a place of faith in Hakusan. It is also known as one of the best places to view the autumn leaves in Ishikawa Prefecture. The theme of this event to be held at the venerable Natadera Temple is “Prayers for Reconstruction and Restoration in Noto Delivered through Art.
The Rediscover project will also be strongly involved in this special theme, and will hold a Rediscover art exhibition in the Fumonkaku and the Treasure House on the premises of Natadera Temple.
The exhibits include pieces of Kutani and Suzu ceramics that were damaged by the Noto Peninsula earthquake and left as earthquake garbage, as well as artifacts that were out of specification in the manufacturing process. The process of reproduction does not mean simply restoring them to their original state. We pursue new expressions and values created by fusing different crafts with the Wajima-nuri kintsugi technique, such as brightly colored Kutani porcelain, white porcelain before painting, and grayish-black glossy Suzu porcelain.
The craftsmen involved in the production are skilled Wajima-nuri craftsmen who were affected by the disaster in Noto. For these craftsmen, who have been devoted to Wajima-nuri for many years, it is naturally their first attempt to combine Wajima-nuri kintsugi with other traditional crafts such as Kutani ware and Suzu ware as an art form. While making use of the techniques and experience they have cultivated over the years, the artists, together with the members of the Rediscover project, held repeated discussions and used their unprecedented perspectives and sensitivities to create a work of art with temperature.

Prayers for Reconstruction and Restoration Delivered through Art from Natadera Temple in Autumn Colored with Autumn Leaves
This autumn night walk event is a fusion of Natadera Temple, one of the most famous places in Hokuriku for its autumn foliage, and art by the creative company NAKED, INC. NAKED, INC. will deliver the beauty of Natadera Temple in autumn and the autumn leaves, which can only be seen at night when the temple is illuminated, by respecting “natural wisdom” and the beauty of nature, which Natadera Temple places great value on. In addition, artist Ryotaro Muramatsu's “DANDELION PROJECT” will be exhibited for the first time in the Hokuriku region to pray for the restoration and recovery of the Noto region. A DANDELION will be installed at the observatory overlooking the strange rock formation of Natadera Temple for the Noto region, and participants will deliver their prayers for restoration and recovery.
NAKED Night WalkTM at Natadera Temple in Ishikawa, one of the most famous places in Hokuriku for its autumn foliage, will start on October 25 (Fri.) with NAKED's art and light effects to make the long autumn nights even more enjoyable. The beautiful scenery of Natadera Temple, which is registered as a “Japan Heritage” site by the Agency for Cultural Affairs because it symbolizes the “stone culture” of Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, is made more attractive by Naked's light and art. In addition, visitors will be able to enjoy the scenery of the past through projection mapping that recreates the waterfall that once flowed over the Sanzon-ishi Stone, as well as stroll through the elegant Natadera Temple on an autumn evening while holding a NAKED Distance Lantern®, a very popular item at Naked's interactive art events, and rediscover the charms of Ishikawa. This is a night walk event where visitors can rediscover the charms of Ishikawa.
In this event, the “DANDELION PROJECT” (artist: Ryotaro Muramatsu), a participatory artwork connecting the world with prayers for peace that has been exhibited in 61 locations around the world, including Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Singapore, will be presented as a digital artwork. This is the first exhibition of the “DANDELION PROJECT” (artist: Ryotaro Muramatsu), a participatory artwork connecting the world with prayers for peace, which has been exhibited in 61 locations around the world, including Noto Peninsula earthquake. This time, the work is also a collaboration with local children, and digital artwork of peace flowers drawn by the children with their prayers for recovery from the earthquake will be displayed. When visitors experience “DANDELION,” the flowers drawn by the children will bloom in projection mapping.
